Recognition programs and incentives are great ways to boost participation in your wellness program. Research shows it can take a number of years for a wellness program to become part of a workplace culture, so it is important to recognize and provide incentives to employees who champion wellness in the workplace.

Internal awards programs

Consider creating an internal structure where employees who champion wellness are rewarded with participation prizes, certificates or acknowledgement on internal communication streams.


Incentives can take many forms. Depending on your budget, employees can be rewarded with prizes, extra time off or company discounts or merchandise. Make sure that incentives maintain a health and wellness lens, such as fitness center discounts, time off, and personal health resources. Below is a list of suggested incentives, both for businesses with and without budgets.
