Take the Sun Safe Pledge
For many Canadians, summer is the highlight of the year. It’s a time when you can finally put away your toques and winter jackets and throw on your best pair of shorts and sunglasses. The weather is warm, the skies are clear and the sun is shining; perfect for enjoying outdoor activities and barbecues.
While the summer months can be a lot of fun, the increase in sun exposure can put us at risk for skin cancer. Fortunately, skin cancer can be preventable as long as you take the proper precautions to protect your skin. With a few simple changes to your lifestyle, you can enjoy the beautiful summer months while also staying safe in the sun.
For the week of August 12th to 16th, we are challenging Canadians to take part in the sun safe pledge to raise awareness about the importance of sun safety in the workplace as well as in your day to day lives.
By taking part in the sun safe pledge, you are making a commitment to:
- Check the UV Index every day
- Seek shade
- Cover up—Wear UV-protective labelled clothing and a hat
- Wear sunglasses
- Wear SPF 30+ sunscreen everyday
