Mental health in the workplace

One in five Canadians will experience a mental illness this year. Stress, anxiety and depression are prevalent in many workplaces, and addressing mental health is beneficial for employers and employees alike. Employers can help build a psychologically healthy environment that promotes good mental health in the workplace. Over 70% of disability costs are attributed to mental illness, so building a supportive work environment can impact the bottom line. Good health is not possible without good mental health; take some time to review the available mental health resources and support your employees today.

Do you want to provide information on mental health to employees? The Educate module will supply you with knowledge you can share with employees through newsletters, posters, or other internal communications. Topics include fact sheets and tips on building your own mental health, stress, anxiety, depression, and more.

Providing opportunities that encourage employees to improve or protect their mental health can help move them from education to action. As part of creating a healthy workplace, build in activities that promote and encourage healthy minds like a stress less challenge or meditation at work.
